Having just changed from a 61 year old wooden boat complete with a wooden mast to a Shark, I say there is nothing nicer then a wooden mast. You can scrape it right down and re-varnish it or use oil and get a nice honey coloured finish. I'm sure you cna straighten it by wrapping it in towels soaked and wetted with boiling water and force it straight while being steamed. Yes I saw Shark #9 this summer at Lake of Two Mountains with a wooden mast. Good luck.
