Jinnie, There is nothing wrong with "sponsorship" as such but the rules for "advertising" are very specific for regattas run under ISAF rules (as most Shark Regattas are). There are 3 defined "categories" - A, B and C, which the Regatta organisers can choose from but which cannot be changed or amended by the Sailing Instructions or National Prescriptions. Look at http://www.sailing.org/rrs2001/ for the details. I think that local Clubs and organizations can set their own rules only if the Sailing Instructions do NOT specify that "The Regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing..." but someone would have to define the "...local rules..." which would prevail or there would be chaos!
