...so we couldn't power through the storm and managed to hold onto the shifting sands in a serendipitous leeward sanctuary as midnight approached and the treacherous rocks of Texada Island , B.C. threatened across the straight . the worst of it all was not grounding at 6 a.m. , as predicted but being unable to lift off until the next evening's high tide , coming to an almost upright position around noon only to flop over the other way for the next low tide, finally making it to the harbour , the 40 kt. winds having now subsided and electrical problems depriving us of lights , our flashlight failed 30 m. short of the dock and we tied up to it quite thankfully , with the aid of the moon and Poseidon's Grace .

Hope this may amuse !

Edmund.

Edmund,

Many thanks - We will certainly feature your story and picture on SharkBytes (and Sharkscan).  Can we identify the Shark?

You message was received as shown below.  The first sentence is certainly descriptive of the picture.  Is it your "writing style" or are we missing something to explain how you got there is the first place?

Hi Bill ,

yeah , that's my style and yes , i skipped the part about being chased up Georgia Straight  by a lightning storm full of rainbows . it came out of nowhere , i swear .

i can't locate her hull # [sail # ?] anywhere but i believe she was built in '71 , being registered with CSCA in '81 to Hardy Poyntz of Victoria B.C. .... perhaps you can help ?

i'm so enjoying your site but mostly want to fill that genny with air and start hopping waves again ! she's a bit shabby now but will soon be wet again .

best regards , Edmund .

hi bill ,

thanks for getting back to me

i am thinking of calling her Ayoka and will of course keep you informed . previously she was known as Interlude but i don't know for how long

her previous owner , Michael Lacoste , says she may have been built in '65 but can't recall how he deduced this

i removed the motor mount from the transom and found no identifying marks anywhere on the stern , inside the lazurette or out .  ??  maybe it was filled over ... Hardy is our best lead so far !

all the best , edmund
