(Ed note: This was sent to me in November last year but I have only just been able to scan it in a reasonably legible form)

Drawing of "Tiller Stop" by Will Nesling, who sails Heidi #375 out of Victoria BC

(Ed note: I got some "artistic assistance" to re-draw this, see Ken Deeley). Meanwhile the handwritten notations are as follows (top down):

1. "Sampson Post" bolted to aft end cockpit
2. Rounded to match Arc made by Tiller
3. Ramp ground in block
4. Underside of Tiller looking up "Brake On"
5. Brass Rod --- Nylon Brake Pad
6. Underside of Tiller looking up "Brake Off"
7. Nylon Block
8. Stainless spring
9. Side view

At the end, Will comments:

"This is a lot less obtrusive than it looks. Without looking one can move the brass rod down to vertical, spring pressure forces brake pad onto crescent, locking tiller. The ramp ground into block releases brake by smoothly pulling rod forward as it is moved to horizonal. Sticky, non drying rubber caulking is put on brake pad for more friction"
